“Pain Nourishes Courage”

Week 52 12-30-21 “Pain Nourishes Courage”

Changing Lives Through Dancing

“Pain nourishes courage. You can’t be brave if you’ve only had wonderful things happen to you.”

– Mary Tyler Moore (B – 1936)

American Actress

“It is the nature of man to rise to greatness if greatness is expected of him.”

– John Steinbeck (1902 – 1968)

American Novelist

What a challenging and exciting time we live in. During these moments, we are surrounded by the forward thinkers who are making something great happen even though times seem bad. They are visionaries and positive thinkers who know that greatness is expected of them.

“What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.”

– Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890 – 1969)

Military Commander and 34th US President

Right now I feel that I must be a big dog with a big bite! I need to show strong confidence, hope, and determination that things will get better. I plan to be standing with the heroes who are planning for success.

“Character may be manifested in the great moments, but it is made in the small ones.”

– Phillips Brooks (1835 – 1893)

American Bishop

I have read many times that the heroes in life are those who don’t just do the big things, but daily, they faithfully accomplish the small tasks. Opening businesses daily, taking care of staff and patrons. Keeping the household running and keeping everyone safe. Character truly is made through accomplishing the small tasks.

“The way to develop self-confidence is to do the thing you fear.”

– William Jennings Bryan (1860 – 1925)

American Politician, Religious Advocate

Fear is so powerful. As I am moving to 66 years of age (I’m on Medicare now!) I find that I have more physical fear as my strength is not the same. But my power of thought and strength of vision carry me through. Daily, I do something that I hate, don’t want to do, or fear, and I’m always stronger for accomplishing the task.

“Trouble is only opportunity in work clothes.”

– Henry J. Kaiser (1882 – 1967)

American Industrialist

Today I’m in my Arthur Murray work clothes. A suit and tie to show the greatness of the Arthur Murray world and to celebrate the great service of joy that we give to others. The world is full of troubles right now, yet I see only opportunity to grow and succeed in this world in this present time.

“Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.”

– William Jennings Bryan (1860 – 1925)

American Politician, Religious Advocate

My destiny is truly my choice. Many years ago, I had my fortune told. She said there were many challenges ahead for me. I responded, “Am I in control of my future?” and she responded yes. I have decided my future is my own choice, not that of others.

“The greatest achievement of the human spirit is to live up to one’s opportunities, and to make the most of one’s resources.”

– Luc de Clapiers, Marquis de Vauvenargues (1715 – 1747)

French Essayist

Only opportunity and hope and success await me. I see the ability to achieve great things in my life right now as we are still in the thick-of-things worldwide. My resources are many and I look forward with a clear mind and heart.

Come back to dancing at Arthur Murray! You’ll be glad you did!
